Obituary for Roxie Virginia Laws Witt

Roxie Virginia Laws Witt, age 84, of Cedar Bluff, VA died on August 17, 2018 in a Richlands Hospital. She was born to the late William Edward Laws and Blanche Cardwell Laws on January 10, 1934 in Tazewell County, Virginia. Roxie graduated from the Clinch Valley Hospital’s School of Practical Nursing. She continued her career as a nurse for 55 years professionally and extended her service as the head of the Clinch Valley Medical Women’s auxiliary for many years after. She was member of the women’s bowling league and loved nothing more than friends, fun, and fellowship. She passionately labored over her crafts, crochet, and Japanese Bunka artwork. She displayed an unmatched dedication to her church, her community, and her service is noted and felt by many. She was a faithful and active member in the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church. Roxie’s love, hours of service work, contagious smile and superior artisanship have graced the lives of many.

Roxie is preceded in death by her immediate family and her beloved husband Clint Beverly Witt.

Roxie is survived by four children: Beverly Witt Lester and husband Wayne of Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Gerald Stephen Witt and wife Angie of Mechanicsville, Virginia. Jeffery Dean Witt of McKinney, Texas. Michelle Rhenea Keen and husband Adam of Hardy, Virginia.

Grandchildren: Amanda Lea Robinson and husband Blake of Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Alicia Michelle Baggett and husband Brian, USAF. Joseph Alexander Lester and wife Lauren. Augustin Clint Witt, Kathryn Ann Witt, Noah Andrew Keen, Stephen Tyler Witt, and Samantha Nicole Witt.

Great- Grandchildren: Alexander Brooks Robinson, her namesake Wittlea Blake Robinson, Jack Britton Robinson, Ramey Jane Baggett and Levi James Baggett.

Beloved neighbors and friends: Faye, Danny and Daniel Ganoe. Regina, “Junior” and McKenzie Sayers. Roxie will also be remembered by a host of family, friends, and co-workers.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the United Methodist Church in Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Rev. Annette Warren and Rev. Jackie Strickler officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Blake Robinson, Adam Keen, Michael Witt, Daniel Ganoe, Greg Cox, Tommy Addison, and David Simmons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Jose Piriz, Dr. Sami Jawad, Dr. LZ Caustro, Dr. Glenn Harrison, Dr. Moore, Peter Mulkey, Ed Hughes, Bill-Reese Taylor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the In His Hands Infant Mission, P O Box 209, Cedar Bluff, Virginia 24609.
