Obituary for Bessie Sparks

Bessie Marie Sparks, age 76, of Bristol, VA, formerly of Whitewood, VA passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Kyle Sparks; her parents, Wyatt and Pattie Compton; two brothers, James Compton and Chester Compton; three sisters, Joanne Compton, Sue Perry, and Betty Stults.
Bessie is survived by two sons, James and wife Janie Hatfield Sparks of Bristol, VA, Frank and wife Pam Shortridge Sparks of Bristol, TN; two sisters, Jean Williams of Goshen, IN and Beatrice Horn of Lebanon, TN; three grandsons, Alyx and wife Jamie Leanard Compton, Austin Sparks, Jamie and wife Erin Melton Sparks; two great grandchildren, Christian and Dakota Compton; several nieces and nephews also survive along with a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Tim Tolliver officiating. Burial will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, VA. Pallbearers will be Alyx Compton, Austin Sparks, Jamie Sparks, James Venditte, Kenny Street, Robert Rumfelt, Bill Martin, Michael Church and Tim Tolliver. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christian and Dakota Compton.
